We adopted our AussieDoodle named Isla in January 2023 at the tender age of just nine weeks. She’s our second poodle mix and teaches us something new every day. A DNA test confirmed she’s a Poodle – Australian Shepherd mix (with some Miniature American Shepherd–aka Miniature Aussie–as well).
Isla was part of a large litter that Texas Humane Heroes had rescued from a kill shelter in our region. She’d been with animal control since the age of just four weeks.
She quickly became best buddies with our border collie mix, Barli, and our three cats.
Today Isla weighs about 45 pounds and is an active girl–who loves nothing better than to chase balls!
Isla–we use the Spanish pronunciation rather than the Scottish–is named for our love of islands and our previous career as Caribbean guidebook writers. She also has a long list of nicknames–especially Doodlebug!
